Oops!

Using the example of the Israelites on their journey from Egypt to the promised land, Paul reminds the Corinthians of the serious consequences that come from rebellion and disobedience to God. As believers we need to be on guard against temptation as it can overtake us at any time as the history of the Israelites demonstrates. The Corinthians are to flee from the temptation to fall back into their old ways of idolatry. They should understanding that while there is nothing wrong with the food offered to idols there are circumstances where eating it would harm the believer’s witness to others or damage the faith of other Christians.
