1 Corinthians 11:2-16.

There is a hint of sarcasm in Paul’s praise for the Corinthians’ careful following of all that he had instructed them to do, when clearly they hadn’t. But Paul now moves on to emphasise ‘headship’, the principle that every believer is under a God-appointed authority of one kind or another. Men and women have different places in this structure even though, in God’s sight, there is no difference in the value of each person. However contemporary western culture struggles to accept that God’s word teaches some roles are for men and other roles are for women.
