1 Corinthians 13.

Rather than disputing among themselves about who has the greatest spiritual gift, Paul asks the Corinthians to consider a much bigger priority. As believers anything we do, no matter how ‘spiritual’, is worthless, if it is not done with love. This often quoted passage on the nature of love contains 15 characteristics of this attribute, all of them active verbs. Love is defined by what we do, not how we feel. And when this world ends and our faith and hope are no longer necessary, love will continue to be the defining quality of our eternal state.
