Paul challenges the Corinthian Christians to focus on the foundation of their faith – the cross of Jesus Christ. This act of God’s to redeem His people through the death of His Son, fails to satisfy the religious desires of both Jews and Greeks. Those who want God to show Himself in amazing signs and wonders or those expect Him to be discovered through great philosophical arguments instead find that the cross is the place where we truly see God’s power revealed.
