Oops!

Luke records Mary’s remarkable song of praise to God after Elizabeth, her cousin, blesses her. The ‘Magnificat’ as it is called, references parts of the similar hymn of praise by Hannah, Samuel’s mother, in extolling the attributes and gracious actions of almighty God in blessing the lives of His humble servants. This passage in this gospel is followed almost immediately by the song of praise by Zacharias after the naming of his son John. Luke is careful to show the miraculous circumstances surrounding the birth of these two very special babies.
