Luke 15:11-32.

In the third, and most well known, of the “lost and found” parables Jesus tells of two sons who took their father for granted and were both only really interested in what they could get from him. The first demanded his inheritance before his father’s death and proceeded to squander the money in a foreign land. But when he was at his lowest he came to his senses, repented of his actions and returned to seek his father’s mercy. The second son who had remained at home resented his father’s love for his repentant brother. Do we feel that God owes us salvation for our goodness or do we see how sinful we are in His sight, how we need to repent and how we must rely only on His mercy?
