Oops!

Continuing on His way to Jerusalem, Jesus passes through the ‘new’ Jericho and meets the rich chief of the local tax collectors, Zacchaeus. Despised by all, God had already begun a work of salvation in this man’s heart which drove Zacchaeus to want to see who Jesus was. Uniquely here, Jesus invites Himself to stay at Zacchaeus’ home which brings great joy to the repentant tax collector but outrages everyone else. Addressing this audience Jesus points to His work of seeking to save those who are aware of their sin and who repent, people like Zacchaeus.
