Oops!

As a doctor, Luke’s documenting of the life of Jesus Christ is careful and precise and is built on the facts concerning people, places and times. The book begins with the angel Gabriel’s visit to Zechariah informing him that God will bless him and his wife Elizabeth with a very special son, destined to be a great prophet. Zechariah’s doubting response results in the angel taking away his ability to speak. However this was not a punishment but a sign both to Zechariah and those around him that God was indeed going to be faithful to His promise. We should remember that God does not punish our doubts but will make a way for our faith in Him to be strengthened if we look to Him for help.
