Oops!

Luke now begins his recounting of Christ’s public ministry with a private confrontation that was essential for Jesus to face and overcome. Satan tempts Jesus for forty days in the wilderness as he tries to derail God’s plan for sending a saviour to redeem His people. Attacking Christ at His most hungry and vulnerable is a tactic that the devil continues to use in the lives of believers to this day. Jesus showed that the way to deal with temptation is also still the same – to stand on the word of the everlasting God.
