After teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum Jesus further demonstrates His authority by casting out an unclean (or demonic) spirit from a man in the meeting. That evening Jesus shows that human illnesses likewise are under His power by healing Simon’s Mother-in-Law. These miraculous signs cause a huge stir in the town and after the end of the Sabbath Jesus is besieged with those seeking His help. He heals many and casts out numerous demons but rather than remain in Capernaum Jesus moves on to take the message of the good news of the Gospel to towns throughout Galilee.
