The four friends of a paralytic man go to great lengths to ensure that he is able to come before Jesus. Their actions demonstrate their faith. Jesus forgives the disabled man’s sin and the watching scribes inwardly question his right to do so. But Jesus knows their thoughts and goes on to heal the man to prove that his power to cure merely reflects his divine nature and his ability to forgive the sins of those that come to him in faith.
