Oops!

The scribes and Pharisees, always seeking to find fault with Jesus, ask Him why His disciples don’t comply with the ritualistic hand washing demanded by their religious traditions. Jesus challenges their hypocrisy in that they lay great store in conforming to outward rituals and words while their hearts are hard towards God. Jesus says that they have elevated the teachings of men to have the same status as the doctrines of God. As believers we need to be sure that we are truly following Christ and His word, not the traditions of our church or our so-called ‘Christian’ culture.
