Oops!

Jesus takes His disciples and travels outside Israel to the region around Tyre and Sidon. A Gentile woman comes to find Him and begs Jesus to heal her demon possessed daughter. Jesus appears to say something quite difficult for her to hear when he asks her if it is right to take the children’s (the Jews) food and give it to the little dogs (the Gentiles). Undaunted by these words the woman demonstrates her faith by replying that the Gentiles can also benefit from God’s blessing of the Jews – eating the crumbs from the children’s table. Jesus points to her faith and assures her that her daughter is free of the demon. Jesus’ actions continue His message that faith is the only thing that secures salvation not outward appearance nor racial or religious heritage.
