Jesus outlines the seriousness of causing someone who follows Him, to fall either into sin or false doctrine. Jesus used graphic imagery to illustrate the need to sacrifice things we hold dear if those things lead us to do things we shouldn’t do, to go places we shouldn’t go or look at things we should avoid. If something causes us to end up in hell then we should cut it away from our lives. Living without these things will be worth it to enter into real spiritual, and eternal, life. Ultimately only what we do for God will survive this life and go with us into eternity.
