Oops!

Jesus continues to use parables to illustrate how we should regard the Kingdom of Heaven. ‘A hidden treasure’ or ‘a pearl of great value’ worth sacrificing everything we have to obtain. But Jesus also cautions His listeners to remember that, like a fisherman who sorts his catch to keep the good and discard the bad, the angels will one day separate ‘the wicked’ from ‘the just’. The consequences for those outside the Kingdom of Heaven at this point will see them ‘cast into the furnace of fire’. Very serious words from Jesus who is often portrayed as meek and mild.
