Oops!

From the high point of declaring – under divine inspiration – Jesus to be the Son of the living God, Peter now plumbs the depths as he unwittingly acts as Satan’s mouthpiece. Jesus explains to His disciples the events that are to come and which will culminate in His death and resurrection. Peter reacts by rebuking Jesus, declaring that these things shouldn’t happen to Him. Jesus responds by calling out Peter’s actions as reflecting a human perspective and not God’s plan thereby echoing Satan’s attacks on Jesus in the wilderness.
