Matthew’s record of the final week before Jesus’ crucifixion, begins with His triumphal entry into Jerusalem on the back of a young donkey. In fulfilment of the prophecies of Daniel and Zechariah, Jesus’ earthly coronation although humble is celebrated enthusiastically by the people of the city. The same crowds who, by the end of the week, will be calling for His execution.
