Oops!

In an attempt to get Jesus to fall into the trap of either siding with the Roman occupiers or against the legal government, the Pharisees ask Him a question about the contentious issue of taxes. Is is right to pay tax to Caesar? Immediately seeing through their attempt to deceive Him, Jesus asks them for a Roman coin. After getting the Pharisees to confirm that it was Caesar’s image on the coin, Jesus tells them to pay to Caesar what is due to Caesar, and to pay to God what is due to God. The challenge to us all is that we owe everything we have to God and we constantly fall short in giving God what is due to Him.
