Jesus begins His final public speech by urging His listeners to follow the Pharisees words but not their actions. Then Jesus declares a series of seven woes, or exclamations of judgement, against the Jewish religious leaders. Jesus calls them hypocrites, blind guides, a brood of vipers, whitewashed tombs containing dead man’s bones, and leaders who are complicit in the murder of God’s prophets.
