Oops!

On the first day of the week the women who, unlike the men, have not deserted Jesus come to His tomb expecting to tend to a dead body. Instead they are greeted by an earthquake announcing the arrival of an angel who rolls away the stone sealing the entrance to Jesus’ grave. The angel encourages the women to go inside to see for themselves that Jesus is no longer there and soon afterwards they meet the risen saviour in person. This miraculous resurrection foretold in the Old Testament is key to the Christian faith. Without it we have no hope but because we have the eyewitness testimonies of those who were there we can have confidence in our trust in the promises of God.
