Oops!

Jesus reassures His listeners by confirming that His purpose was to fulfill the Law and the words of the Prophets not to destroy them. Any departure from the commandments of God would result in those who were responsible being regarded as the least in the kingdom of heaven. But Jesus then confronts the crowd with the seemingly impossible task, that in order to enter this kingdom their righteousness will need to be greater than the men who they regarded as ‘holy’ – the scribes and Pharisees. How is this possible?
