Oops!

In considering the best way to exercise judgment, this passage requires us to consider the variety of Greek words which are translated as the verb ‘to judge’ in our English Bibles. In this case Jesus urges His followers not to develop the habit of condemning others, of being continually critical. Jesus is not saying that Christians should never exercise judgement in anything but that we should not be people who are incapable of helping others, when they sin, because we are blinded by the far greater sin of condemning everyone and everything.
