The events from the life of Jesus Christ – that we remember at Easter – are the most significant in the history of the universe, if we look at history from God’s perspective. Seven hundred years before Jesus of Nazareth the prophet Isaiah was given a vision of a ‘servant’, sent by God who would be rejected to the people to whom he was sent but who would nevertheless carry out God’s plan and redeem many people. During His ministry Jesus identified Himself as this servant so it is useful to examine Isaiah’s prophecy to see the intention God had for the work of His servant – His Son.
