Titus 2.

In the second chapter of his letter to Titus, Paul gives instructions for the more mature men and women in the church. They should set an example of behaviour that those younger than them will seek to follow. Older women should tell the young women to love their husbands and children to behave in a discreet chaste manner so that no one will have reason to blame God for the bad behaviour of His people. Likewise older men should instruct young men to be sober-minded and to live as if their lives were a pattern of good behaviour for others to follow.
In addressing the attitude of slaves to their masters, Paul’s instructions apply to the type of slavery common in the time the letter was written. The later, trans-Atlantic slave trade has no justification whatsoever from any teaching in the Bible. The kidnapping and the sale of human beings is repeatedly condemned, under punishment of death, throughout God’s word.
