Paul, in Miletus, gathers the elders from nearby Ephesus to speak to them face-to-face for what he thinks will be the final time. Paul begins by encouraging the Ephesians to remember his humility in delivering everything that was helpful to them, ministering to all groups of people, exhorting them to turn away from sin towards God and to follow Christ in faith.
