A group of ten lepers call out to Jesus for help. Lepers in ancient Israel were required to live away from their communities according to the laws set out in Leviticus and so would have had to shout from a distance for His attention. Without explicitly saying a word of ‘healing’ Jesus commanded the ten men to go to the priest who could confirm that they no longer had the disease. As soon as they obeyed they were healed but only one of their number, a Samaritan, returned to thank Jesus for what He had done. This was a sign of true faith, and as Jesus remarked, this faith would save the healed man.
