Oops!

Travelling to the territories, under the rule of Herod, on the other side of the Jordan, the Pharisees come to Jesus with a question about divorce. Remembering how Jesus had, in His ‘sermon on the mount’, restricted the grounds for divorce to ‘sexual immorality’ the Pharisees asked Him if there really were no other reasons where a man was permitted to divorce his wife. Jesus takes His listeners back to the divinely created relationship of marriage to emphasise its permanence as far as God is concerned. Men and women need to think very carefully before they break apart something that God has joined together.
