Oops!

A Roman centurion, well-liked by the Jewish community, approaches Jesus with concern for his servant who is paralysed and dreadfully tormented. In a remarkable demonstration of faith, for someone not brought up as a member of God’s chosen people the Jews, the centurion says that all that Jesus has to do to heal his servant is to say the word. Jesus draws the crowd’s attention to the centurion’s belief and tells them that in the future many will come from east and west, beyond the nation of Israel, to find similar faith.
